Support RAAC communities facing homelessness and bankruptcy by: Establishing a national fund to aid affected homeowners and tenants Launching a public inquiry into council and housing association practices on RAAC Bringing in protective legislation
We think many face bankruptcy and homelessness after RAAC was found in ex-council homes sold under right-to-buy. We seek a national fund and public inquiry into government and council decisions on RAAC. We want laws to protect homebuyers, including a high-risk building register, mandatory issue reporting by surveyors and solicitors, and developer accountability for defects, allowing homeowners to make claims for up to 60 years. We think mortgage interest charges should be banned on no-owner-fault condemned properties, and first-time buyer status restored for affected owners.
