Allow an extension for neutering XL Bully dogs with certain medical conditions

Some canine medical conditions create significant difficulties for owners to comply with the rules of neutering their XL Bully dogs by the time required. We want extensions for dogs with medical conditions that make neutering impossible or unsafe, provided adequate medical information is obtained.

Our XL Bully dog (Colin) has idiopathic epilepsy and experiences seizures every 7-10 days. He is currently under a specialist neurological team due to being unstable on his current medication. To go forward with the neutering procedure before June 2024 to comply with the law could place him at a very high risk, as with many other dogs with similar conditions, or that are very old or on certain medications. We believe this would breach the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
