Create a baby loss bereavement support scheme for self-employed parents

The Government should create a bereavement support scheme to provide financial support for self-employed parents who experience baby loss through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. Currently there is no support for self-employed parents who are faced with this horrendous loss.

There is welcome Government support available for people who lose partners and a scheme for employed parents who lose a child, but nothing for self-employed people who experience baby loss. They need time to grieve without having to worry about working and paying their bills during such a tragic situation. We want to see a change in financial support for self-employed bereaved parents.
