Free British Sign language classes for deaf people and families

Deafness or impaired hearing is a medical disability, which should not result in deaf people having to pay to learn sign language. The cost of classes can range from hundreds to thousands of pounds. A means of communication is a fundamental human right and should be accessible for all.

Deaf or hard of hearing people often don't have free access to BSL courses and often cannot afford them because they are not in employment or do not earn as much as those with full hearing.

For many deaf individuals and their families learning BSL is unaffordable and resulting communication difficulties can lead to mental health issues, financial difficulties, social isolation and unemployment.

People with other medical conditions receive support, so should the hearing impaired and deaf.
