We are calling on the Government to regulate these products, so only foods that are suitable for particular animals can be sold as such.

Sadly, well-meaning people are buying products labelled as food for particular animals, but they often contain ingredients that can cause the animals that eat it health problems, or even death. We are therefore calling on the government to regulate these products.

On 30th July 2020, hedgehogs were added to the Red List for British mammals and classified as vulnerable to extinction. Ensuring food sold as suitable for hedgehogs is safe could help protect this species.
