By legislating that printed media (including their websites) has to give equal prominence of any retraction to the original article making the incorrect claim, this will force publishers/editors to hold their journalists to a higher level of scrutiny and improve the standard of journalism. As a consequence, the public at large will gain a clearer understanding of how the world operates, as the media provides readers with guidance on how to interpret events.
