Extend the Gambling Act to cover Loot Boxes

I would like the government to extend the Gambling Act to cover ‘loot box’ systems from computer games so they are regulate in the same way as other forms of gambling. These systems can lead to gambling addiction and children spending too much money on these ‘loot boxes’ in games.

The well known game publisher, EA have referred to it as a ‘surprise mechanic’, which changes nothing about the system, and believes it is not unethical to continue using it. However, I and I’m sure many people would people would agree it is very unethical and should be properly regulated.
