Encourage and support the removal of memorials that glorify the slave trade

Stautes and memorials that glorify the historical and racist slave trade have no place in public space in 21st Century UK. At best they belong in museums that tell the truthful and barbaric history of this countrys role in the transatlantic slave trade; they should all be removed.

The Home Secretary and others have condemned the action of protesters in Bristol in pulling down the Colston statue. If the Government does not associate itself with the glorification of the historical slave trade, it should support and encourage Local Authorities to remove all public memorial of those associated with the trade and also support the establishment of museums that teach the true history of slavery.
