Successive governments have long neglected the civil defence infrastructure of the United Kingdom, to the point that, during times of national emergency, the country finds itself ill-prepared. The current Covid-19 pandemic, the nationwide flooding of 2019 and other destructive weather cycles have exposed how the UK is over-reliant on a patchwork of charities and public goodwill to cope with crisis. We ask that the Government act now and begin to prepare for the next national or global crisis.
