A true democracy does not favour or act preferentially towards certain groups. The Lord’s Spiritual means that 26 bishops get to sit in the House of Lords. In state-run schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, there is a requirement for a daily act of worship that is "wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character". It is not democratic for the State to be promoting or favouring a religion. This petition advocates for a neutral State.
