Tobacco ads were banned in 2002 - to help support addiction recovery and prevent addiction in young people. 4.5m 16+ vulnerable gamblers 1.5m 11-16-year-olds gamble 9% of all online ad spend. 17 Premiership partnerships. 26 of top 44 English Football clubs have a betting shirt sponsor.

It is estimated that 1.05m Disability-Adjusted Life Years are lost in Great Britain by adult vulnerable gamblers (exc. <16s & family) every year. The justification for treatments to manage harm in adult gamblers in the NHS could be 2-3 times higher than the total gross gambling yield excluding lotteries.

Tracey Crouch resigned in 2018 over concerns about the gambling crisis and cited 2 people tragically take their lives every day (730 per year - 30% of all 20-49 suicides)
