Charity services are needed now more than ever. Charities placing employees in temporary 'furlough' to obtain urgent financial relief cannot allow employees to continue any work on a voluntary basis. This will impact the ability of charities to serve the public in a time of national crisis.
Allow furloughed employees of registered charities to undertake work for their charity in a voluntary capacity providing that work continues to advance public benefit, the employee receives no additional remuneration or benefit and the charity can reasonably demonstrate furlough is required due to financial stress.
