With so many UK businesses reliant on the reduced duty rate from sectors including Showmen and Circuses, Construction, Fisheries, Heavy Plant & Transport etc and also second tier operators such as back up generation of power for Communications, Hospitals and mass event organisations incorporating public safety, this petition asks that the provision of the reduced duty rate is retained as the immediate downturn effect on commerce could severely outway any possible added benefit to the Treasury Department or the UK economy as a whole. The importance of the 'lifeblood' of these industries at an affordable rate cannot and should not be underestimated.
