This petition is for the countless victims that suffer domestic violence/abuse at the hands of their partner and are trapped in a marriage by archaic laws. Forcing them to pay for a divorce and go through more distress during the process or to stay married and continue to suffer.

1. It was never legally valid (‘void’)
2. It was legally valid, but meets one of the reasons that makes it ‘voidable’
You can annul a marriage for a number of reasons, such as:
you did not properly consent to the marriage - for example you were forced into it
I propose that an additional reason be added:
you have been a victim of domestic violence/ abuse.
As no one should have to suffer domestic violence/ abuse.
