Ban the culling of newly hatched male chicks in egg production in the UK

Chick culling is the killing of newly hatched male chicks which the industry has no use. It occurs in all egg production whether free range OR organic. In the UK this is done by asphyxiation - suffocating chicks in plastic bags. By 2020 US producers expect to sex eggs before hatching - why can’t we?

Billions of male chicks are killed each year worldwide inhumanely.
Asphyxiation, cervical dislocation, and maceration are all methods use to ‘dispose’ of innocent, freshly hatched male chicks.
We have deemed them as having no worth and so they are disposed cruelly without second thought.
In the US it is expected by 2020 that eggs will be sexed to prevent culling of live chicks so eggs can be culled.
Whilst this isn’t perfect, it is a step in the right direction and the UK should follow.
