The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sajid Javid)
I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Mr Andrew Bailey as the next Governor of the Bank of England. Mr Bailey will take up his appointment on 16 March 2020, and will serve an eight-year term, in accordance with the Bank of England Act 1998 (as amended by the Financial Services Act 2012). Dr Mark Carney has kindly agreed to extend his current term as Governor of the Bank of England until 15 March 2020, in order to facilitate a smooth transition to the next Governor.
