Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, with reference to page 7 of the document entitled ICF Brazil: Summary, published in March 2024, when the Government plans to disburse its £115 million contribution to the Amazon Fund.

The UK is the third biggest contributor of climate finance to Brazil, with more than £400 million committed. The UK’s contribution supports initiatives under the Green and Inclusive Growth partnership to help Brazil’s economic transition to net zero, reduce deforestation rates and support Brazil’s ambition to develop a bioeconomy which values standing forest and supports local communities’ livelihoods. At COP 28 the UK signed a legal agreement with the Amazon Fund and an initial disbursement is planned for 2024.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what estimate she has made of the amount of jet fuel produced from Russian crude oil purchased by (a) Shell and (b) BP since 2022.

The Department collects and publishes monthly data on the origin of oil cargoes in line with international reporting requirements and the UK’s non-preferential Rules of Origin. To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, if he will make an estimate of the number of prepayment customers entitled to Energy Bill Support Scheme payments who have not been able to access this support.

In the first 3 months of the Energy Bills Support Scheme energy suppliers issued 6,020,560 (99%) vouchers to customers with traditional prepayment meters, of which 4,261,940 (71%) had been redeemed by end December, an increase from 66% in the previous month. Vouchers are valid for 3 months and so the Government expects this figure to rise in the coming months.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, whether his Department is taking steps with (a) the Post Office, (b) PayPoint and (c) other organisations to help ensure that prepayment meter users are able to access Energy Bill Support Scheme payments.

The Government continues to work with the Post Office and PayPoint, along with suppliers and an extensive range of charities, consumer groups and other stakeholders to communicate the Energy Bills Support Scheme and the importance of customers checking post, emails and text for prepayment meter vouchers and taking action to redeem them. We are issuing further communications including via local networks, community radio, and through material in different languages.
