To ask Her Majesty's Government what proportion of people in each local authority who completed a self-assessment between the 1990–91 and the 2018–19 tax years declared a charitable donation of any form.

In 2017-18, the most recent tax year for which figures are available, 12% of individuals in the UK completing a Self Assessment form declared a donation to charity. UK figures for 2007-08 to 2017-18 are published in Table 5 of HMRC’s annual Charity Tax Relief Statistics, and figures for the most recent year are published by region and by Parliamentary Constituency in Table 7. The information requested for each local authority for the period 1990-91 to 2018-19 is not readily available and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
