To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to tackle misinformation on the safety of the HPV vaccine.

Public Health England (PHE) has worked closely with both mainstream and social media to provide positive messages on the human papillomavirus (HPV) and other vaccinations for target groups to tackle misinformation on the safety of the HPV vaccine.
In addition, PHE has developed a range of materials targeted at teenagers and their parents to provide information about HPV vaccination programme to help them make an informed choice. Local immunisation providers should share this information and signpost teenagers and their parents to these materials when the offer of HPV vaccination is underway in schools. To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment his Department has made of the potential merits of deploying distributed energy resources across the NHS estate.

The Department and NHS Improvement fully support the implementation of local, small-scale renewable energy sources that improve the resilience of the estate and drive a reduction in energy costs and carbon emissions. NHS Improvement is actively working with National Health Service providers to drive and implement improvements in these technologies, which include solar power, wind power and battery storage.

My Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care commissioned Lord Carter of Coles to report on how to improve efficiency in hospitals in England. This identified potential savings of £125 million from National Health Services trusts investing in energy saving schemes. NHS Improvement is working with NHS trusts to support their delivery of these savings.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what steps the Government is taking to raise awareness of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

The Department has taken steps to increase public awareness of all rare diseases including conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, through the implementation of the UK Strategy for Rare Diseases. The Strategy includes specific commitments to raise awareness of rare diseases.
The Strategy is currently being implemented across all four countries of the United Kingdom with progress monitored by the UK Rare Disease Forum. The first progress report by the Forum was published in February 2016.
