Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme
Asked by: Ben Bradshaw (Labour - Exeter) Thursday 16th May 2024 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how much has accrued to the Exchequer from money recovered by public bodies using powers under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 through (a) unspent asset recovery incentivisation scheme receipts and (b) receipts above the annual cap on Home Office receipts through the asset recovery incentivisation scheme in each financial year from 2017-18 to 2022-23. Answered by Tom Tugendhat - Shadow Minister (Home Office) (Security) (A) It is the responsibility of individual agencies participating in the Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme to send any unspent funds back to HMT directly, who hold this information. (B) Table 1 provides the amount of receipts above the ARIS cap for each financial year from 2017/18 to 2022/23. Receipts that surpass the cap are sent from the Home Office to HM Treasury and go into the Consolidated Fund.

Answered by Tom Tugendhat - Shadow Minister (Home Office) (Security) The Home Office annual cap for the Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme is set by HM Treasury. This is reviewed at the time of the Spending Review Table 1 provides the agreed annual cap for each financial year from 2017/18 to 2022/23

Glencore Energy UK: Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme
Asked by: Ben Bradshaw (Labour - Exeter) Friday 17th May 2024 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how much and what proportion of receipts recovered from Glencore Energy UK Ltd through the asset recovery incentivisation scheme following its conviction for bribery in November 2022 accrued to his Department. Answered by Tom Tugendhat - Shadow Minister (Home Office) (Security) Glencore Energy UK Ltd were ordered to pay £280,965,092.95. This included a confiscation order of £93,479,338.95, fines totalling £182,935,392, and payment of the SFO’s prosecution costs of £4,550,362. We cannot comment further on individual cases. |

Miscellaneous Name of donor: For the Citizens Ltd Along with two other MPs, since 16 March 2022 I have been party to a legal challenge filed in the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg - which was confirmed by the Court on 5 September 2022. The legal proceedings are funded through crowdfunding by For the Citizens Ltd (known as The Citizens). Total costs incurred to date between the three MPs (and two other individuals), which will be capped under a fee agreement with our solicitors, are £28,536 (inc VAT) (consisting of £3,570 counsel fees and £24,966 solicitors fees).
