BBC bosses came after @GaryLineker because he stood up for asylum seekers. They told him he couldn’t tweet about ‘politics’. So how come BBC presenter Lord Sugar can tweet any revolting stuff he likes without consequences? Listen to what former BBC boss John Birt has to say. https://t.co/5IdWVlPDhz

@WestminsterWAG This is just silly. I defend the rights Andrew Neil, Chris Packham, Lord Sugar and others who freelance for the BBC to express their views too. We need more liberals who understand that we do not need to agree with someone to defend their freedom of speech and conscience.

BBC Director General struggling here to explain why other freelance presenters at the BBC who've tweeted opinion haven't been suspended. Lord Sugar being an obvious example. "I'm in listening mode" Mr Davie now says. I bet. Huge unforced error by DG re #GaryLineker https://t.co/K1fenhvAcf
