Select Committee Inquiry |
---|
20 Feb 2024
Implications of the war in Ukraine for UK Defence International Relations and Defence Committee (Select) Not accepting submissions The Committee’s inquiry will consider the interim lessons that can be drawn from the war in Ukraine for UK Defence. It will explore whether our assumptions regarding the nature of the Russia threat are still valid, and whether we are equipped to respond to it. It will examine the role played by new technologies on the Ukrainian battlefield, consider manpower requirements, the pressures on industry to replenish equipment and weapons stocks, and the adequacy of procurement processes—drawing both strategic and operational lessons for UK Defence. |
16 Oct 2023
The UK and the Western Balkans International Relations and Defence Committee (Select) Not accepting submissions This short inquiry is a follow-up to the Committee’s report The UK and the Future of the Western Balkans, published in January 2018. It also presents an opportunity to scrutinise HMG’s commitment to “step up engagement with…the Western Balkans…to boost their prosperity, security, and resilience to Russian interference”, as set out in the 2023 Integrated Review Refresh. The inquiry will explore UK interests in the Western Balkans, and the UK's role in promoting security, stability, and prosperity in the region. |
