Select Committee Inquiry |
---|
20 Feb 2024
Implications of the war in Ukraine for UK Defence International Relations and Defence Committee (Select) Not accepting submissions The Committee’s inquiry will consider the interim lessons that can be drawn from the war in Ukraine for UK Defence. It will explore whether our assumptions regarding the nature of the Russia threat are still valid, and whether we are equipped to respond to it. It will examine the role played by new technologies on the Ukrainian battlefield, consider manpower requirements, the pressures on industry to replenish equipment and weapons stocks, and the adequacy of procurement processes—drawing both strategic and operational lessons for UK Defence. |
7 Nov 2024
The UK’s future relationship with the US International Relations and Defence Committee (Select) Not accepting submissions The House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee will be launching an inquiry into the future of UK-US relations. The inquiry will assess the state of the transatlantic relationship, explore the impact a second Trump Administration may have on it (as well as the rules-based international order), and what trends in US foreign policy are likely to persist and influence the relationship beyond the next four years. The Committee will start taking evidence on or shortly after president-elect Trump’s inauguration on 20 January 2025. |
