Reduce Vehicle Excise Duty by 50% for vehicles aged 20 to 39 years - 49,434 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 55,139 - 53 added in the past 24hrs)

Introduce a 50% VED reduction for cars aged 20–39. High taxes force functional vehicles to be scrapped, creating a "disposable" culture. Keeping existing cars is greener than building new ones, as it preserves embedded carbon. This "Young-Timer" bracket supports the circular economy and UK heritage.

The Government responsed to this petition on 23rd February 2026 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to reduce Vehicle Excise Duty liabilities for vehicles aged 20 to 39 years. The Government keeps all taxes under review and the Chancellor makes decisions at fiscal events.

Legislate to require drivers to report collisions with cats - 27,295 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 37,272 - 497 added in the past 24hrs)

It is legal in the UK to hit a cat when driving and not need to stop or report collisions, leaving them scared, alone, and in pain. Cats are important, loved, valued family members for many and we believe the law should reflect this.

The Government responsed to this petition on 3rd February 2026 (View Full Response)
The Government has no current plans to require drivers to report collisions with cats. However, the Road Safety Strategy will improve road safety for all road users, including cats and other animals.
Open Petition since 24th October 2025

Ban 20mph speed limits with limited exceptions - 6,474 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 6,576 - 28 added in the past 24hrs)

We believe anti car sentiment has become rife and 20mph speed limits are becoming commonplace in many towns and villages which just slows traffic and causes more congestion. There should be a national policy so 20mph limits are only used as the exception, e.g outside schools.

Open Petition since 11th March 2026

Increase HMRC Mileage Allowance to 70p per mile - 2,166 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 5,670 - 103 added in the past 24hrs)

The 45p per mile mileage allowance has been static for fifteen years. Since April 2011, prices in the UK have increased by around 49.2% according to the Bank of England. We want the allowance to increase to 70p a mile.

Open Petition since 13th April 2026

Introduce legislation to make it possible to renumerate emergency volunteers - 1,090 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 5,594 - 33 added in the past 24hrs)

In our view, following the Groom vs Maritime and Coastguard Agency case, the Government needs to recognise the essential role volunteers play in the emergency service sector by introducing legislation allowing organisations to remunerate emergency volunteers whilst preserving its volunteer status.

The Government must get the East West Rail Line passenger service running ASAP - 2,140 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 5,413 - 20 added in the past 24hrs)

The East West Rail Line was due to open last December for passenger services. It’s still not running. The Government needs to break the deadlock between Chiltern Railways and unions. There needs to be effective negotiation to resolve differences and find a solution. Services need to run urgently.

Reduce the national speed limit on single carriageways usually found in rural areas from 60mph to 30mph.

Launch a review into airport terminal drop-off charges - 3,048 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 4,096 - 7 added in the past 24hrs)

We want the Government to a launch a review into UK airport drop-off fees which looks into giving the CAA powers to audit and cap all airport drop-off fees. The review should look into ways to abolish profit-making from forecourts, a 10-minute free grace period, and preventing cost manipulation.

Allow test-free A2 to A motorcycle licence upgrades after two years - 2,927 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 2,979 - 12 added in the past 24hrs)

We should allow automatic A2 to full A licence upgrades for retaining an A2 licence for 2 years.

The test for A2 and A are the same, and while the type of motorcycle is different, we feel the test doesn't address the extra power allowed on a 35 kW+ motorcycle.
