Adapt gambling laws to include gambling in video games which targets children. - Final Signatures: 16,969

Many video game companies in recent years have introduced mechanics which are essentially gambling of which are targeted at children and vulnerable adults. While not currently considers gambling by law they do copy many traits to make them as addictive and can lead to real money being lost/earned.

The Gambling Commission has strong powers to regulate gambling and is monitoring convergence between gambling and video games closely. The government is committed to protecting children from harm.

Tickets are being bought from sites and are getting sold to third party sellers for a high price meaning real fans are missing out. Reselling of football tickets is illegal under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Why can’t laws apply for tickets to concerts and other sporting events?

The BBC has a duty to deliver impartial, accurate news coverage and content under its Charter. Perceived editorial bias at the BBC is a matter for Ofcom as the independent regulator, not government.

The Royal Charter maintains the licence fee funding model until 2027. The government will look at the licence fee funding model in advance of the next Charter.

I am severally Visually impaired. I now have to use audio description when I watch TV. The content is very limited on what I can watch as broadcasters are not required to provide audio description. The Government should consider requiring all broadcast television be audio described.

I have witnessed first-hand, women and children being exploited online. Some by repeat offenders, some leading to significant harm to women and children. I believe that it is too easy for people to join social media, and set up social media groups, without having to undergo any checks.

The BBC has proved incapable of managing and funding the concessionary licence scheme for the over 75s. It axed the scheme, ignored mass protests and has no democratic accountability. Government should be politically accountable for benefits, not a media company. Take back control.

From June 2020, the BBC is responsible for setting out and paying for any concession providing free TV licences to those aged 75 and over. The BBC consulted widely on the future of the concession.

Every year, over 70 billion animals are slaughtered for their meat. The Earth also suffers terribly due to animal agriculture. One way to reduce the sales of animal products, and so reduce animal deaths and the environmental impact, would be to ban the advertising of meat and all animal products.
