Allow individuals to present public petitions without the support of an MP

Currently, many people ask their MPs to present their petition to the House of Commons but MPs can refuse to do so. In such cases, the House of Commons should allow members of the public to present their petitions directly, without the support of an MP.
To allocate Government time for the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill to be debated in the House of Commons as soon as possible as a significant number of members have already given it their support.
We, the undersigned, wish the House of Commons to create a Select Committee to scrutinise the effectiveness of enforcement of the Ministerial Code, in light of recent alleged breaches by Government ministers.
Remove the Queens consent requirement for legislative bills

Our government has to be non-partisan, to help ensure that effective solutions can be implemented.
Ban MPs from holding second jobs outside of the public sector

The Government should ban MPs from having second jobs in the private sector for the period they hold a seat in Parliament. They should continue to be able to hold second jobs in the public sector, for example in the NHS or army, but not for commercial enterprises.

Being an MP should not be treated like part-time employment. If you’re an MP this should be your only job. MPs should give 100% commitment to the country and their constituents.
Extend the rules of conduct for MPs to cover exchanges on social media

Currently the Parliamentary Commissioner cannot investigate complaints regarding MP's exchanges on social media because these are not covered by the rules of conduct. The remit needs to be revised to include exchanges on social media.
Make lying in Parliament a criminal offence

It's ridiculous that lying under oath in court is a crime, which can lead to a custodial sentence, but MPs and members of the House of Lords can lie in Parliament and not face any consequences.
Create state-owned accommodation and working space in London for MPs

Fund a purpose-built facility with accommodation and working space within travelling distance from Parliament, for use by MPs.
In the long term this could save the taxpayer money, in reduced expenses for MPs.
