Following the announcement that Relationships Education at primary level and Relationships and Sex Education at secondary level will become mandatory subjects, a call for evidence was launched on 19 December 2017 and closed on 12 February 2018.

The call for evidence sought views on the content and shape of the new subjects, and on the status of Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education. To ensure that we heard directly from young people, we also ran a separate age-appropriate call for evidence for children and young people. All of the questions can be found on the call for evidence site at: https://consult.education.gov.uk/life-skills/pshe-rse-call-for-evidence/.

The results from the call for evidence will be published shortly, alongside a consultation on draft statutory guidance and accompanying regulations. Once this is complete, and we have had a chance to take account of the views we hear, we will be laying the guidance and regulations in both Houses for debate.
