Question to the Department for Education:

To ask Her Majesty's Government who will inform a school of a positive COVID-19 test of a student at that school.

Guidance on the full opening of schools was published on 2 July and has been regularly updated. This includes advice on how schools should respond to any infections and is clear that schools should ask parents to inform them immediately of the results of a pupil’s test. Local health protection teams will also contact schools directly if they become aware that an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 has attended the school as identified by the NHS Test and Trace system. The guidance outlines how schools should respond to any infection, including engagement with NHS Test and Trace and local health protection teams.
