Animal Products: UK Trade with EU

(asked on 10th May 2018) - View Source

Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what progress has been made in ensuring the UK will be added to the EU's list of approved third countries for imports of products of animal origin; and what action is being taken to ensure continued reciprocal access for movements of those products from the EU, and, in particular, from the Republic of Ireland.

This question was answered on 17th May 2018

The Government continues to prepare plans for all exit scenarios. During an implementation period, common rules would remain in place and market access would continue on current terms, in order to provide certainty for businesses and citizens. The precise nature of our future relationship with the EU after an implementation period is still to be determined and is the subject of negotiation. The UK Government is aiming to achieve the freest possible trade in goods and services between the UK and the EU, consistent with taking back control of our money, borders, laws and trade.
