Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what action they are taking to help secure the implementation of the recommendations of the Report of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic published on 6 March.

This question was answered on 1st May 2018

The UK believes that those responsible for violations of international law and human rights abuses in Syria should be held to account, and we strongly support the work of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria .On 23 March the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution, presented by the UK, welcoming the work of the UN Commission of Inquiry and renewing its mandate for another year. On 25 April, at the Brussels II Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, the UK co-hosted a ministerial event on accountability to strengthen cooperation between national, international and Syrian actors involved in the fight against impunity.
