Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the answer by Lord Gardiner of Kimble on 2 February (HL Deb, col 1277), whether they intend to introduce new environmental protection legislation.
This question was answered on 9th March 2017
The Prime Minister announced last year our plans for a Great Repeal Bill that will convert current EU law, including environmental law, into domestic UK law. Our intention is to ensure a smooth and orderly transition via the Repeal Bill and retain legislation that protects our environment. Any future changes in the law will be subject to full scrutiny and Parliamentary debate.
