Academies: Headteachers

Question to the Department for Education:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the numbers of head teachers leaving academies in 2014, and of the reasons for this.

The Department for Education does not appoint headteachers directly and has not made an assessment of the number of headteachers leaving academies in 2014, or of the reasons for this.
In November 2013, the headteacher vacancy rates in primary and secondary academies in England were 0.1% and 0.3% respectively. Information about 2014 headteacher vacancy rates was collected as part of the November 2014 School Workforce Census and will be published in July 2015.
