Question to the Department for International Development:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the funding available to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in Gaza.
The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) suspended its cash assistance programme for repairs to damaged homes in Gaza due to a shortage of funds last month. The UK has provided £9million to the UNRWA Gaza Flash Appeal, and remains the third largest donor to the UNRWA General Fund. The UK has also used its influence as a predictable, multi-year donor to UNRWA to set incentives for change, including linking funding to reform and results.
