Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assurances they have received from NHS England that an interim commissioning policy will be in place by April to provide treatment for patients with liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis C.

This question was answered on 20th February 2015

NHS England is currently developing interim proposals to allow selected patients with cirrhosis to receive some of the new drugs that are expected to be available to treat hepatitis C later in 2015. Subject to its internal approval processes, it is aiming to have this policy in place by the first half of 2015.
