Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask Her Majesty's Government, following a complaint to the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee by Friends of the Earth regarding the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill, whether they intend to formally consult on the environmental aspects of Brexit.

The purpose of the Withdrawal Bill is to provide a functioning statute book on the day we leave the EU – it is an essential Bill in the national interest.

While we cannot comment on proceedings, we believe we have complied with all of the relevant obligations in developing this crucial legislation, and remain committed to maintaining high environmental standards.

We will be submitting our full response to the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee in due course.
