Phase One of the Jobs Guarantee began in April 2026 across six areas with some of the highest need. The scheme is expected to support over 1,000 young people into jobs in this first phase. As of 2nd November, over 1000 young people have started on the scheme, with 500 already entering employment, enabling them to develop their experience and skills, supporting them to enter sustained employment.

The scheme will be rolled out across Great Britain later this month. The scheme is intended to support more than 90,000 young people into employment by March 2029, providing young people with tailored support to help them succeed in the job. The national rollout is a major step towards delivering on our commitment to ensure every young person can fulfil their potential, breaking down barriers and making sure opportunities are accessible to those who need them most.

The Government is building a pipeline of opportunities, working with a range of employers to create opportunities for young people as part of the wider Youth Guarantee. This includes the recent partnering with the British Retail Consortium and UKHospitality, who have committed to delivering 100,000 retail jobs and 100,000 hospitality jobs for young people who are NEET by the end of this parliament.
