The terms of the EU’s 2030 Clean Energy Package have only just been proposed by the Commission so it is too early to say what requirements will be agreed by Member States and the European Parliament. The extent to which the UK will be bound by the requirements of the EU 2030 framework will depend on the terms of the UK’s exit from the European Union. The UK’s action to tackle climate change is framed by the Climate Change Act, which is domestic legislation and therefore unaffected by the result of the referendum.
