Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask His Majesty's Government what urgent action they plan to take, in consultation with the government of the Netherlands, to secure continued supplies of Bedrolite for patients with severe epilepsy for whom it is the only effective treatment.
The British Embassy in The Hague is in contact with the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport to understand the reported changes affecting the manufacturer of Bedrolite and the potential impact on UK-based patients who currently rely on this product.
The Government recognises the importance of uninterrupted access to medicines for patients, but clinical decisions regarding an individual patient will remain a matter for their responsible clinicians, who are best placed to assess and manage patient risk.
