Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have to strengthen the requirements and penalties relating to the meeting of hygiene standards by food businesses.
This question was answered on 15th December 2016
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) does not have any immediate plans to increase requirements or penalties for hygiene standards.
However, though the FSA’s ‘Regulating Our Future’ programme it is working to reform and improve the current regulatory system, thus making sure that people have safe food, food they can trust, and that it is what it says it is.
