On 30 September, the Government announced a package of funding and policy measures to support buses, set out in A Better Deal for Bus Users. This includes £220 million of new funding for buses, in addition to the £250 million paid every year in Bus Service Operators Grant.

A Better Deal for Bus Users contains a commitment to review this Grant to ensure it supports the environment and improved passenger journeys.

It also included a commitment to produce a National Bus Strategy for England, accompanied by a long-term funding settlement to be agreed at the next Spending Review, expected to be in Summer 2020.
