Supply teachers employed directly by a maintained school or local authority must be paid, like other teachers employed by these institutions, in accordance with the statutory arrangements set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. They are also automatically enrolled in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and are eligible for the same pension benefits as other teachers. The arrangements for supply teachers employed by private agencies, including their pensions and rates of pay, are private commercial arrangements.
