Incidents over which the rail industry had no control (for example vandalism, trespass, fatalities, disorder on trains and severe weather) accounted for approximately 16% of all delay minutes in the year 1st April 2016 – 31st March 2017. Over the same time period, such incidents caused approximately 2.85 million delay minutes to the rail industry.
