Question to the Cabinet Office:
To ask His Majesty's Government what consideration they have given to including British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation in Government broadcast communication; and what discussions they have had with non-Government political parties about encouraging the use of BSL interpretation at party conference events.
The Government is committed to ensuring that its communications are available and accessible across multiple channels and in a number of alternative formats in order to meet a range of needs, including BSL.
It is the responsibility of individuals and organisations to abide by the law as set out in the Equality Act 2010, which places an anticipatory duty on service providers to make reasonable adjustments to improve access to services so that disabled consumers are not placed at a substantial disadvantage compared to non-disabled consumers.
