Food: Hygiene

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether it remains their policy to support the mandatory display of the Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Ratings once every local authority has joined the scheme.

This question was answered on 24th July 2015

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has responsibility for the Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme. The FSA favours mandatory display at food outlets in England and is gathering evidence to support this, including monitoring the impact of legislation introduced in Wales in 2013 which makes it mandatory for businesses there to display their ratings. The Government will consider this evidence carefully once it is available.
