Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government when they plan to introduce full cost recovery of meat inspection charges; and what is their estimate of the financial gain to the public purse of doing so.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has responsibility for charging for meat official controls. At present the FSA has no set timetable to move to full cost recovery. The level of discount on meat official control charges varies from year to year.
