Question to the Department for Education:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they plan to introduce a national register of children not in school; if not, what steps they will take to ensure consistency and completeness between local authorities to identify those children; and what assessment they have made of the risks of variation in local authority data quality on this subject.

It has not proved possible to respond to this question in the time available before Prorogation. Ministers will correspond directly with the Member.
