Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government which agencies are responsible for the enforcement of lorry weight limits; and whether those agencies have sufficient resources to enforce those limits.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is the government agency responsible for the enforcement of Heavy Goods Vehicles and Passenger Carrying Vehicles use. This includes the enforcement of lorry weight limits. DVSA considers that it has sufficient resources to enable it to carry out this enforcement activity.
