Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they intend to introduce legislation to increase the maximum sentence for animal cruelty offences from six months to five years imprisonment before the end of this parliamentary session.


This question was answered on 11th February 2019

The Government will introduce the necessary legislation to increase the maximum penalty for animal cruelty from 6 months’ imprisonment to 5 years’ imprisonment, as soon as Parliamentary time allows.
