Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the ongoing conflict in Tigray.

We remain concerned about the impact of the continued fighting in Tigray on both the humanitarian situation and on wider stability in Ethiopia and beyond. We continue to urge both parties to bring an end to fighting, prioritise the protection of civilians and allow unfettered humanitarian access, points the Foreign Secretary raised when he met with Prime Minister Abiy during his visit on 22 January. The Foreign Secretary also discussed the importance of independent human rights investigations taking place and the need to ensure that perpetrators are brought to account.
