Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask His Majesty's Government what work they have done on ending chattel slavery in (1) Mauritania, (2) Mali, (3) Sudan, (4) Libya, (5) Niger, and (6) other African states.

The UK is committed to playing its part in eradicating all forms of modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking - this includes engaging with the newly appointed Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery and trafficking. We continue to work with partners through a range of multilateral bodies including the United Nations and Alliance 8.7 to grow the international consensus and encourage joint action to tackle modern slavery.
