Question to the Cabinet Office:
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what assessment his Department has made of the potential impact of stopping or reducing existing monthly support payments through the England Infected Blood Support Scheme and similar schemes on infected individuals who rely on those payments for everyday living, medical costs and long-term care.
All infected beneficiaries registered with an IBSS before 1 April 2025 will continue to receive Support Scheme payments for life, should they choose to do so. The choice to instead accept a one-off compensation payment is made by the individual. The Infected Blood Compensation Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2025 made changes to ensure that individuals can switch from their support scheme payments to a core award, and from periodic payments to a lump sum, if they wish to.
